分数的英语表达方式

在英语中，分数的分子用基数词表示，分母用序数词表示。分子与分母之间的连字符号"－"可有可无。当分子超过1时，作为分母的序数词要用复数形式。当分子为1时，也可用a代替分子的one。例如：


two fifths 2/5 three sevenths 3/7


one（一） third (= a third) 1/3


one quarter (= a quarter = one fourth = a fourth) 1/4


three quarters (= three fourths) 3/4


若要表示比较复杂的分数用over来表示，此时分子分母都要用基数词。例如：


seven over forty-six 7/46


three over fifty-eight 3/58


当分数前有整数时，应先说整数，然后用连词and将整数和分数连接起来。例如：


one and four fifths 1 4/5


two and three fourths 2 3/4


1. 分数在句子中作主语时，谓语动词的单复数形式取决于分数后面的名词是单数还是复数。例如：


(1)Three-fourths of the surface of the earth is sea. (surface为不可数名词，谓语动词用is) 地球上四分之三是海洋。


(2)Two-thirds of the students of our class are league members. (students是复数，谓语动词用are) 我们班上三分之二的学生是共青团员。


2. 分数在句中还可以用作宾语、同位语、表语、定语和状语。例如：


(1)The desk takes up two thirds of the space. （宾语） 桌子就占了三分之二的地方。


(2)He worked in Japan for two and a half year. （定语） 他在日本工作过两年半。


(3)China is one sixth larger than the United States. （状语） 中国比美国大六分之一。
